Friday Night!

After pictures we went on a search for food...
The island is mostly natural and only has a few choices for food.
We ended up riding around looking and found a picnic area we planned to come back to and ride bikes...
Then we found this place Latitude 31/Rah Bar as in Oysters etc.. we were afraid the girls would like it but we did walk around a little while.
The Restaurant.
And ended up on a carriage ride through the Historic District. I am not going to share a 1/4 of the pictures but it was fun and the girls enjoyed the history of the island too!
This is part of the Jekyll Island Club built in the 1800's by a few Millionaires that called the island home during the winter months... these were their cottages!
After the depression and travel to Europe and other exotic places became so easy the owners sold the island to the State of Georgia and they made it into the state park it is today.
Another of the Club
All the buildings have been restored
And this one is now a hotel/restaurant.
How would you like this for your winter cottage?
a 350 year old oak tree.. Don't ask me how they know but it's the oldest tree on the island.
I took a picture of this one because of the walkway entrance, they pulled the carriages up to the sides, the girls get out on one side the gentlemen on the other so that the men couldn't see the ladies ankles...

a sunset shot from the buggy!
My girls.
This was the Rockefeller cottage.
The first intercontinental phone call took place on Jekyll Island.
The resturant as we are leaving with the sun setting...
We ended up going to the Villa we were staying at and eatting at the resturant there. The Driftwood Bistro.... It was GREAT and resonable...
