Camping (Part 1)

Camping this past weekend in Townsend was different from some of the places we had been.

1 ~ Desoto is so wooded you can't see your "neighbor". Not the case here!

2. It was really quite, when we camped at Oak Mountain and there was a drug bust 3 campers down. Now that made a Mom feel comfortable with her surroundings! This time around 9 it would get really quite, we would walk around and see families playing games/cards.

3. It was very family oriented, some of the other places we have been have had Children's hour and activities but not like KOA. They have hayrides for the kids, nice pool, outdoor movies for the kids and Mom's favorite a laundry so you don't have to take home dirty/wet clothes! YUCK! It was an area where you would never have to leave the campsite to have something fun to do. No, I don't think Laundry is fun but it's nice to not have to dread all that when you get home. So I see us going back!

We had a site on the River so the kids had lots to do and we could watch them easily.

Grace and Kacey made friends with the kids around us and from there begin to catch tadpoles, minnows! You name it.

When we got there and we were unloading this Nice but too informative neighbor of ours, walked over.

Him ~ Just so you know were expecting storms tonight. Around 7 in Knoxville, 7:30ish here.

Greg ~ yes Sir, we've been hearing some storms were possible

Him ~ And just for your info there is a snake that we've watched for two days that comes back and forth from the other side of the bank. It has something over here it is attached too and the kids and noise run it back so watch your kids. It looks to be a harmless water snake.

Greg ~ Thanks, we'll watch.

I think what Greg wanted to say was Ahem, thanks nice man, but I don't need help making my stormphobic/snakphobic family more phobic!

But Thank you LORD it never rained and we NEVER saw "that" snake! The only snake we saw was in Cades Cove.

you can see some tubers we had a waterproof disposable camera for tubing we'll have to wait and see how those pictures turned out..
Grace getting a headstart on tubing, Greg tied the tube to a tree so she couldn't go anywhere.

Did I mention the playground.. now I have.

Not a care in the world. No, we didn't tell them about the snake, just to watch for snakes not that one had been spotted trying to nest in our spot!

Apollo 11 Anniversary

Yesterday, July 20th marked the 40th anniversary of the Apollo landing on the Moon.

The Space and Rocket Center and NASA had partnered for a celebration at the Space and Rocket Center. So we went!

Marshall had a hospitality tent for it's employees and were giving out free drinks and moon pies, I was shocked when Grace asked what a moon pie was!

I couldn't believe she had never had one, I'm slacking on my Mommy duties obviously!

Those of you that know our girls know they are really different. Kacey is conservative and Grace isn't afraid of much!

Kacey observed~ Grace was ready to go!

I fully expected Grace to go a little ways up and back down.

Nope, she went all the way to the top!

Not Me Monday!

I did NOT forget my badge for work one day last week and I nice guard at the gate did NOT let me through but go straight to security!! I've been known as a national security threat before!

I was NOT late for work this morning due to just being tired... Camping is hard work!

We did NOT have trouble with a cable on the camper before we left and my husband did not stay up to midnight before we left making sure everything was right with the world!

I have NOT been gone two weekends in a row and I am NOT a home body so even after lots of fun I was NOT thrilled to see home yesterday!

I am NOT sore from tubing I am in much better shape than that.. Especially my left arm since they WOULD allow you to tie tubes together I did NOT have to hold Grace's tube all the way down the river since I would NOT have panicked had we been separated!

We did NOT book this campsite for July since we wanted to enjoy the tubing and other activities this site had to offer and we did NOT get the only weekend in July that was cool! The temp Saturday night did NOT hit 50. We did NOT tube anyway and pray for no pneumonia!

Happy and Sad, Happy that Kacey enjoyed 7 years of GA camp and that she loved it so, Sad that it was her last year. I'm glad she is growing and maturing into the fine young lady she is but learning to let go is so hard. She is only 12 but it has already started, she doesn't need me to pick out her clothes and watch her constantly but I'm thankful that she still needs me for somethings!

I'm thankful she is healthy and growing. Okay enough of that at GA camp the girls have a competition between teams, from athletics to an obstacle course to making up a talent and cheer. For the last 7 years the Grove girls have come in first this year was no different! Can you believe the imagination!

Not Me Monday!

I did NOT send my oldest to camp without a bath towel, wash cloth and shampoo, I'm way more organized than that.

I did NOT send my youngest to camp with no swimsuit. ahemm

I did NOT text in bed at camp when lights were off to another counselor that shall remain nameless "Jessica" instead of getting much needed sleep.

I did NOT help pull a tooth and have to use a plunger in a sink at camp...

As I was leaving in a mad dash Friday morning I did NOT see I had left my contact holder on the night stand and with hands full I did not stick in down my shirt since I did have a pocket and I did NOT forget about it and find it when I was finally crawling into the shower at 11 pm.

Happy NOT me MONDAY!

GA Camp Bound!

These two ladies have been up since 5! I think we are excited...

Lord give me strength!
